MacTCP must be properly installed and configured for InterSLIP to operate. MacTCP is distributed with most InterCon products or can be purchased from Apple Computer, Inc. Use MacTCP version 2.0 or newer. InterSLIP works with earlier versions, but intermittent delays or pauses in communication may occur.
To open and configure MacTCP (assuming it is already properly installed):
1. Open the System Folder.
2. Open the Control Panels Folder.
3. Double-click the MacTCP icon to open the MacTCP Control Panel.
3 The MacTCP dialog is displayed (the icons in the dialog may vary, depending on the
networking hardware installed on your Macintosh).
 
4. Select InterSLIP and click More….

5. Click Server under Obtain Address.
3 This instructs MacTCP to obtain its IP address from the gateway InterSLIP connects to.
This setting allows you to avoid reconfiguring MacTCP each time you switch SLIP
gateways. You do not need to fill in a gateway address or manually set the IP address. We
recommend completing the information under Domain Name Server Information if
you are running the Domain Name Service. For more information, consult the MacTCP
